Harry S Truman: A Musical Tribute (Gr. 4+ for Band, Choir, and Narrator)
was commissioned in commemoration of the Harry S Truman Centennial by Central Missouri State University and the CMSU Foundation. Its premiere performance was March 24, 1984 at the Folly Theater in Kansas City, MO by the CMSU Concert Band and Choir with Claude T. Smith conducting. This programmatic work using choir, band, and narrator takes you on a musical journey of the life of Harry S Truman: from birth to death, from his deep love of music to the ultimate decision of using the atomic bomb. This work is extremely moving and powerful!
